Luke first spots Eve at his dad's funeral. She's gorgeous, and she's the perfect distraction from his messed up family life. But there's only one problem - she's got a boyfriend. Still, Luke is not going to give up that easily, and when he meets Ryan at a party he hears about the ‘Six Steps method' which apparently guarantees success with any girl. Luke determines to put it to the test and, step by step, he begins to get closer to Eve. But it’s not all plain sailing; one step forward seems to mean two steps back, and when Luke is hospitalised by Eve’s jealous boyfriend, he wonders if any girl - even one as gorgeous as Eve - is really worth it.

"This summer story races along at a page-gulping rate, and is all the better for being told from a boy's puzzled, wry perspective."
"A real page-turner, and written excellently… there is loads of emotions in this book, and the characters are believable and well described."
"I have read both the stories [Six Steps and Three’s a Crowd] about Eve and Luke. I really loved them... they have all the ingredients that I think make an excellent book... tense and riveting!"
"So far I've read Six Steps and Three's a Crowd, they were seriously good... it's like you [Sophie McKenzie] know exactly how teenagers feel... you actually write the things a normal teenager would do… I didn't want them to end!"
