Ketty Wilshere is named after Arsenal football star Jack Wilshere. Ed O’Brien’s surname was inspired by Chloe O’Brien in the hit TV drama, 24. Nico Rafael gets his surname from tennis ace Rafael Nadal. And Dylan Fox had to be called Fox because that was Fergus and William’s surname already…

Fantastic time on the Hit Squad tour. I really enjoyed it. Thanks a million to everyone I met at Sidney Stringer, St Peter’s, Fallibroome, Kings School, Cheadle Hulme, Stonyhurst, Bacup & Rawtenstall and Ripley St Thomas. And thanks to Catherine at S&S, all the wonderful librarians and teachers who helped organise my visits and to the excellent bookshops: Simply Books and Silverdell. Visit to University College Hospital

In January 2012 Sophie visited University College Hospital in London to meet patients on the teen ward. She read from Sister, Missing and answered questions about her writing career.

The visit was organised as part of the Starlight Storytellers partnership between the Starlight Foundation and Simon & Schuster, Sophie’s publisher – various authors have visited children in hospitals across the country to entertain and inspire them.
