Online safety for children

The internet is a fantastic resource for learning, entertainment and communication.

We want you and your child to enjoy looking at our site and encourage you to spend time online and participate in the activities offered by this site.  We recommend that you read the Home Office guidelines for keeping your child safe on the internet:

http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk

The following checklist may also be helpful:

  • Talk to your child about their use of the internet and take an active interest in what they are looking at.  Keeping the computer in a busy room in the home may allow you to achieve this more easily and become involved in their internet use.
  • Consider the use of software that filters and monitors what your child can access online. Talking this over with your child and agreeing ground rules prior to using such software can help.
  • Make sure your child knows the important safety rules of (a) never going to meet someone they have met online and (b) never revealing any personal contact details online.

Our Terms and Conditions of use and Privacy Policy for the Sophie McKenzie site.

Please take the time to read both of these documents and explain them to your child. If you have any questions, please contact us at Sophie McKenzie Website c/o Simon & Schuster, 1st Floor, 222 Gray’s Inn Road, London WC1X 8HB or by email at childrensbooks@simonandschuster.co.uk
